The Washington Post reported today (paywall) that thousands marched today in Washington for DC Statehood and Voting Rights.
I understand from other outlets that sister marches were held in various cities around the country to honor the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I have a Dream” speech.
Between poor promotion, Afghanistan, and Ida, the march has gotten little coverage, but it’s an important step in promoting two issues, DC Statehood, and passing the Voting Rights Acts that are dear to our hearts.
It’s quite disheartening that neither an announcement about the marches, nor coverage of it reached the pages of Daily Kos. I spent the afternoon repotting plants, how much more meaningful it would have been if I could have joined one of the marches. I thought Democratic activism is what Kos was all about. After all, isn’t its tagline “News you can do something about?” Sad.
