Anywhere that the public and waterways interact — oceans, lakes, rivers, creeks, wetlands, parks (including “man made” lakes), trash is sure to accumulate. Some of it may be washed to the ocean by storms. Some of it may wash ashore from the ocean. All that trash is not only unsightly, it adds to pollution of drinking water for humans and animals.
You, your friends, and family can help reduce the impact of that trash by participating in Coastal Cleanup Day on Sat., Sept. 18, 2021 (though some events may take place on other days near then.) Whether it’s half a day or only an hour, every bit helps.
Thanks to volunteers around the world, the International Coastal Cleanup has become a beacon of hope, leading and inspiring action in support of our ocean. Over the years, this movement has created a family that spans oceans and country borders. A network that works together for something bigger than us.
