In AZ, right now, the stage is being set for what the Republicans will try in 2024. For a recap of that, read this.
Cochise County is refusing to certify its election results. The threat is that the County’s votes will not be included in the statewide count, and as a result, the Republicans would lose the head state education position and potentially a congressional seat.
No doubt this would be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court (the congressional seat would make that pertinent). No doubt, the US Supreme Court would “reluctantly” go along with the result that the people of Cochise County would be disenfranchised by the actions of the Republican-controlled board of elections.
But go to the 2024 Presidential Election and see what could happen: Several states controlled by Republicans, with Republican legislatures, vote for the Democratic candidate. These states refuse to certify, causing their votes to not be counted in the Electoral College. It is appealed to the Supreme Court, which cites precedent created by this case in AZ, and, don’t you know, Donald F’ing Trump is President, again.
