This is Dr. Malika Mitchell Stewart. Please watch the clip.
Talk about timely, with respect to Biden’s soon-to-be-chosen Black female Supreme Court Justice nominee. And the story itself pretty much says it all.
Let the “Black-women-can’t-cut-the-line-in-front-of-us!!-crowd try to assimilate this — an actually pretty common, everyday occurrence of deminishment, embarrassment and (often costly and/or dangerous) harrassment, that happens in one form or another in the life experiences of most American Black (and POC) folks...happening as often and as routinely in the professional realm as any other — let them accommodate this story into their fragile mindscapes as they hyperventilate about Biden promising to choose from among Black female candidates for Breyer’s replacement.
I mean, heaven forefend, right?
Oh, and Juneteenth should be a national holiday already, but maybe wait till right after the confirmation hearings are over.
I can’t wait to hear the speech Judiciary Chair Durbin gives introducing her to the Senate for the vote. I hope he mentions this Dr Malika news item, which was reported the day the selection committee began its work (!), and that the condescension that Dr Mitchell Stewart received was no different than the treatment Dr Anita Hill got from the Senate Judiciary Committee some years ago and certainly no different than the treatment Dr___________ ______ ________ will get from the likes of Hawley and his handler Carlson, and of course the patently demented Trump.
Make sure you watch that news segment, its the good Doctor’s story, much of it in her own words.
