I’ve been checking out posts on youtuber, Adam Something’s, community page. He’s been posting photos and linking to news stories about Ukraine. I think he’s a Hungarian transportation engineer, but he’s also a reformed right winger and political scientist who has great perspective on current events in Ukraine. His youtube posts about Ukraine have been excellent, with links to articles in Russian and Ukrainian (which can easily be translated into English using google). His youtube videos about other topics are also excellent. He’s not posting videos during this crisis, but his community page is full of regular updates with pics and links to inspiring stuff, most of which I don’t see here or anywhere else I look. I encourage you to check out his posts.
I’m posting a few pics from this post and another. The picture of people from Energodar, where Russian is the predominant language, standing on the roadway waiting to push back the Russian army, is jaw-droppingly amazing. In the second pic, all roads lead to The Hague! Pic #3 speaks for itself. [I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume that the creators of these photos will be OK with my posting them here without license or attribution, as I can’t find such information but I think the photos are meant to be widely disseminated.]
These images are very inspiring. They and others like them need to be seen world wide. The more public humiliation of putin, the better. Not only do the Ukrainians know their own country, they also know Russia, Russian tactics, and how to counter them. The Russian army is embarrassingly bad and its morale is lower than imaginable. Before the internet the Russians could effectively block news from the west. But there is no way putin can keep the reality that his army is losing and its soldiers are dying from the Russian people. As protests in Russia get bigger, he won’t be able to arrest everybody.
putin lied to his troops when he sent them for, “exercises.” Instead, finding themselves in a situation in which they’re being ordered to kill their Slavic brothers and sisters, as they sit in columns of vehicles of death and destruction, mired in the mud, like ducks waiting to be slaughtered, it’s no surprise they’re not handling it very well. Meanwhile the Ukrainians have been all out of fucks to give for quite a while and are bravely willing to die to fend off putin.
It’s clear that putin doesn’t have a chance in Ukraine or anywhere else in the world. I do worry about his finger on the button and I hope there is someone with the brains not to follow orders, standing between him and nuclear annihilation. Sadly I think many more people will die before putin either withdraws or takes a bullet in the back — or perhaps you’d like a spot of polonium tea, vlado? But whatever happens, it’s pretty clear that Ukraine will never be part of Russia again.
For the good of the world, die putin, die.
