Recently two extremist NH state reps brought a “de-transitioner” to do a program at our local public library. This effort was assisted by “Cornerstone Policy Research” which I understand is the NH branch of “Focus On The Family.” This program was anti-trans and pro-theocracy. It took place November 6 at the Wolfeboro Public Library; the screenshot above is from a previous program at the Conway Public Library which was covered by the Conway Daily Sun here: www.conwaydailysun.com/...
The program was opened with a prayer by one of our local state representatives — Rep. Glenn Cordelli, the person who brought us NH’s “divisive concepts” law. Rep. Cordelli prayed that we all be concerned about “the evil” that the de-transitioner had experienced while receiving treatment for her gender transition.
Next the de-transitioner stood up and told her story: How she had felt it was a fine idea to transition from female to male, and lived as a man until years later when she went to confess her sins to a priest and decided to go back to being a woman. By that time she had already had top surgery and a hysterectomy. She told us that she received hormones and multiple surgeries through a gender clinic in Massachusetts without ever having a single counseling session, so she never really had to think about what she was doing. By her account she was 18 when she started her transition and now is 28 and de-transitioning.
She graciously took questions from many of us, which allowed us to clarify her actual positions, which were:
1) The “transgender agenda” is wrong and “a lie” and not just children, but no one of any age should be allowed to get medical care for gender issues, except counseling to help them “overcome” their gender dysphoria and happily live with the gender they were assigned at birth. She graciously allows that adults currently on hormones might be grandfathered in to continue to receive them, but no one else should be allowed to start them.
2) What people wear in public should be regulated by law according to their assigned gender at birth.
3) All humans are either male or female, regardless of any biological diversity. There are only two genders, as we can tell by the fact that some languages assign one of two genders to all nouns.
4) if there is any medical care for gender issues left after she and her friends have their way with our laws, it should be available only to those who have no other emotional or psychological issues, which in her summary included autism, depression, anxiety, and anything else you could find in the DSM.
(For the sake of brevity here I will not get started on the implications of that last point right now.)
An interesting feature of her story is that while the program may be part of a publicity campaign for a law aimed at stopping kids in our state from getting any treatment for gender issues, our presenter did not begin her journey until after she reached the age of 18. Also while she wants to outlaw gender-related medical care in New Hampshire, apparently all of the care she received was in Massachusetts.
So that’s what I found out at that program. Perhaps one like it is coming soon to a venue near you.
