Welcome to Bookchat! Where you can talk about anything; books, plays, essays, and audio books. You don’t have to be reading a book to come in, sit down, and chat with us.
Hi there. It’s been a couple of weeks, I thought I’d throw together a diary. I’ve recently experienced some amazing generosity from this community, so I’m thinking about generosity, hope and other positive stuff.
I searched for gratitude, found a lot of books about how gratitude is good for you. This Goodreads list mixes adult and children’s books, has a lot of books. This one sounds different, not just the “having a grateful attitude is good for you, body and soul”. A man decides to thank everyone involved in his morning cup of coffee, and goes on a global journey. He writes about how surprisingly interconnected we all are.
Thanks a Thousand: A Gratitude Journey
This book by John Pavlovitz has been on my tbr for a long time: Hope and Other Superpowers: A Life-Affirming, Love-Defending, Butt-Kicking, World-Saving Manifesto. He’s also the author of If God Is Love, Don’t Be A Jerk, a book I’d love our new House Speaker to read.
I know this is short, but the whole idea of Bookchat is for people to talk about books. And I wanted to say thank you to all the wonderful people who made my root canal & crown possible. Especially the awesome Onomastic, instigator of the help. Everyone who contributed is an awesome human being, and I don’t need to benefit from my gratitude; I got a root canal and temporary crown and tomorrow morning the first appointment for a permanent one.
So anyway — what are you reading? Have you read books on gratitude, hope or other positive things? Other book-related thoughts?
