Our Alaska cruise is 26 days away. I don’t know what to expect as far as lounging in the sun, but there are 5 pools, so it must be reasonable to go swimming on a ship heading to Alaska, and I’ve just learned that Alaska has record breaking heat.
My daughter and I will be going on 3 excursions. Our first stop is Sitka — dry suit snorkeling in the cold waters of Alaska.
How cold is it?
The ocean around Sitka is 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit in summer
months. However we will keep you warm with state-of-the-art 7mm wetsuits, gloves, hoods and booties. The only part of your body exposed to the water is your lower face. Iceman Wim Hof says cold water is good for your body and soul, and we find this to be true.
I will let you know if it was good for my body and soul.
Next is Juneau — Sled Dog Discovery & Musher’s Camp. I just had to… right?
The excitement builds as your coach drives into the Tongass
National Forest to the musher's rustic camp. Disembark and meet the musher and his team of Alaskan huskies, the most commonly used breed of sled dog in Alaska. After your greeting climb into a custom-designed summertime sled and take off on a one-mile run through giant spruce and hemlock trees. Feel the thrill of being pulled by a team of strong dogs while surrounded by Alaska's inspiring beauty.
And lastly, Adventure Cart Expedition — for my daughter’s love of cars, driving and riskiness. What could go wrong?
An off-road adventure of a lifetime - you'll experience the rugged Alaska wilderness from the driver's seat of a specially designed off-road Tomcar adventure kart.
