Update: The open testing version of the app is no longer available. I hope to make it available again soon.
The rest of this story is as I wrote it yesterday evening.
This app makes it fast and easy to get the content that you want from dailykos.com from your pone. It features a fetch-and-store approach so that it can download content when you have good Internet service and read it then or later, even if you don’t have an Internet connection later.
The app only works for dailykos.com subscribers. That’s a choice that I made to promote subscriptions to the site to help keep the Daily Kos staff paid and the servers running. (Note: I have nothing to do with Kos Media, but I don’t want my hobby app to cause them harm, so requiring subscriptions is my way of trying to ensure that.)
A test version of DK to go for Android is available now to anyone in the Google Play store. While it’s called test, it’s in pretty good shape. (The story functions are in good shape, but the commenting functions need a lot of work.)
iPhones and iPad users will need to wait another month or so. The iOS app isn’t yet in good shape for me to submit it to Apple. You can read the latest status report here: iOS Progress – July 4, 2023.
Please let me know what you think in the comments.
