Last week I published a short diary regarding the odious Food tax we have here in TN, and why we have it. I was unable to hang around and the diary did not stay up long. However, I do wish to thank those of you who live in TN who accessed the link I provided and did sign the petition.
I am writing again since there is one week left where fellow Tennesseans can sign the petition before they are brought to Nashville mid-March.
I hope some of you who did not read the previous diary will get the chance to sign the petition tonight. Please feel free to share the link with anyone you know in the state, as this is not a Democratic or Republican issue, it’s a family issue!
We should not have to make up the revenue shortfall through our purchase of food (which is not a luxury item) because the state has been allowing big businesses to pay little or no corporate Income tax.
Please urge your legislators to vote yes for this bill to abolish the food tax (and tax big corporations):
Senator Charlane Oliver and Representative Aftyn Behn are authors of this bill which aims to:
* Eliminate the tax on groceries in Tn.
* Close offshore tax loopholes to ensure giant corporations pay what they owe
* Establish a corporate minimum tax so big corporations aren’t paying Zero tax

Thank you for reading and sharing! This is an open thread.
