Today on WFAA’s Y’allitics State Representative Jared Patterson (R-Frisco) told the hosts that impeached Texas Attorney General is a “flight risk”:
Jared Patterson (R-HD106): Ken Paxton has the securities fraud thing coming up in April. The FBI is investigating him on the bribery charges. I know for a fact that they interviewed multiple people all around Austin. People in the legislature I know of people in Austin that are being interviewed by the FBI and the grand jury in San Antonio. The noose is getting tighter. It's a matter of time. And look, I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of this year that, you know, Ken Paxton is on an island somewhere cashing out his campaign account and, you know, trying to skirt law enforcement. I think the best case, I think he would take off.
Jason Whitely (WFAA): I mean, literally, you think he'd take off?
Jared Patterson: Paxton is facing life in prison. These securities fraud charges, it's real deal.
Jason Wheeler (WFAA): I mean, do you think the attorney general is a flight risk?
Jared Patterson: I absolutely do. I mean, look, he's gone all over the world. He went to China whenever everyone said, “do not go on this trip to China.” He's been all over Europe. He's never disclosed how those European trips were paid for. It's now come to light that he's got multiple homes and investment properties all over the United States, that he somehow bought $150,000 a year salary. And, you know, he's got all this stuff that's never been reported.
