A couple days ago, I wrote about donating to some Democrats running for Texas State House seats.
Now I’ve learned about a bigger list put together by Charles Kuffner, done with the same aim as mine — making sure that the Abbott and Paxton plan to remove all Republican opposition to school vouchers ends up backfiring on them.
This one has 18 races on it (including two of the three I highlighted) but only 15 candidate links. Two of them are because there are runoffs still to be settled. Some of them are stretches at +11R, but we’ve seen swings larger than that in special elections, so they’re totally worth the money.
The Texas House right now is D64 R86. We could give Abbott and Paxton aneurisms if we picked off 12 races and won the Texas House. With the environment we’re in, it’s actually not an outrageous notion.
After we failed to capture the House in ‘20 (which would’ve prevented another round of gerrymandering), I fell into a funk feeling certain that our next opportunity to capture it wouldn’t come again until 2030. But looking at Kuffner’s list, I’m up for taking a much earlier run at it.
How ‘bout y’all?
Thanks to Gardening Toad, here’s an Act Blue link for five of the candidates Kuffner listed, plus a couple more.
