I am no fan of Biden’s policy in the Gaza conflict. Look back at my diaries. But the decision to air drop food and medicine is a good to a very good thing. My major criticism is that it has taken so long. All of a sudden people are saying don’t even bother (hell, let them starve “because I find your solution annoying”) which is just a little bit less worse than “let them starve.” All of a sudden the meme has taken hold (and that’s all it is, a meme, a motivated belief system that for some reasons — cough, New York Times, cough- has gone viral) that food and medicine air drops do not work. There is absolutely no evidence for this belief system that I have been able to find. However there is evidence that if well planned they can feed massive amounts of people. Just spent some time reading about the Berlin blockade. Air drops kept an entire city running at a pretty high level for almost a year (well 8 months). The idea that giving starting people food and water is somehow a distraction is absurd on its face. It is just something everybody has started saying for some reason — cough, New York Times — cough.
And this is based it seems on a single post from a single person from Oxfam (not even official), which was literally selling the Protocols of the Elders of Zion on their website. Not much to recommend them. Dropping food does not mean Biden should not immediately call for a cease fire. But letting even one person starve while we are waiting to hurt Biden is horrific on its own.
