Greetings and welcome to another slice of Werelynx life, kicking off a wee, little community open thread.
This time around, I've got such a hodgepodge of thoughts and photos to share that, rather than trying to make a coherent whole out of it I'll just dive right in, string it all together, and see where this thing goes.
Last weekend, we managed to get out of the big city for a couple of days. Sunday morning there was a touch of frost in the air—
Back in Prague, Mrs the Werelynx left for more conferences in Amsterdam. Which meant all the cooking for the week was going to be ol’ Marko's responsibility. I started with a couple of Chicago-style deep dish pizzas, made Sloppy Joes another evening and yesterday managed to make our dear michelewln’s Char Siu — with a few improvised substitutions, due to my lack of rice wine and plum sauce. Of course, it was just a preliminary step to making her delicious Char Siu Bao — Chinese Barbecue Pork Buns.
And yes, I'll definitely be making it again. I did manage to get the ingredients together for Michele's Chinese Five Spice Powder. It was kinda revelatory— say, I know and love that flavor!
And then there was something that left a bad taste in my mouth. We got a little flyer in our mailbox.
Yeah, I posted a whole diary about that crap earlier today.
And Tuesday I went to a tiny demonstration about similar lies and crap from other, more popular political parties, we need to be aware of.
I did mention in the comments last week that I had some orchids blooming on the window sill, didn't I?
Looks like I’ll be finishing up a beer label this weekend.
Other than the creeping malaise of fascism, I have a remarkable interview on my mind, I was listening to Phil Rosenthal and David Wild interviewing comedian Pete Holmes on the Naked Lunch Podcast. Probably the most thought provoking take on Christianity and religion in general that I've ever heard. I found it refreshing.
Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to share a bit of your own week, a thought, a poem …
This is, after all, an open thread.
