Last week on Thursday, the judge in the Fani Willis trial….ah, hearing, rendered his decision about Ms. Willis’s supposed misconduct.
Some like MSNBC’s Morning Joe and Andrew Weissmann quickly developed an amazing ability to have read the judge’s unspoken judgement in the case. According to both Morning Joe and Weissmann, to them it was clear that the judge did not believe a word that Ms Willis testified. They managed not to Include any negative evaluation about attorney Wade or Trump’s attorney team, while both (and the judge) focused solely on what they considered to be the veracity of Ms. Willis’s replies to the insulting and unnecessary questions posed by D.Trump’s enormous legal team. This is a clear example of justice delayed.
Weissmann’s divination of the judges intent and beliefs about Willis’s testimony was, that the judge “didn’t trust a word she said.” “Hahahaha”, as the hosts and Weissmann chortled.
Note that both Morning Joe and Weissmann claim to want D. Trump’s successful prosecution and yet they both had no problem defaming Ms. Willis’s character and impugning her credibility, the one person that has lodged the most broadly sweeping and damning case against D. Trump and his co-defendants. Just whom do these claimed progressives really support?
Oddly, prior to this “hearing” the majority of the legal eagles thought this case was at best, simply another delaying tactic of the D Trump team. Many of these same legal eagles stated clearly that there was “no there, there.” And yet after the judges ruling some could not wait to jump on the band wagon to defame Fani.
It’s hard not to read race, and specifically, how a Black woman’s responses are judged negatively because of her posture to questions that violated her privacy while questioning her ability to lead the investigation and prosecution of Donald J. Trump. Cannot most if not all understand, the poison pill that Donald J Trump and his ilk are to our collective freedom and democracy?
There is a strange similarity to OJ Simpson’s theft of his personal possessions trial in Nevada where the prosecutor that brought the charges against OJ and the judge were married. No impropriety there or even questioned. The same circumstances for the Mike Tyson rape case, the married prosecutor and judge in Indiana. No media spot light or attention on either of these two cases with “married” spouses or even a hint of questioned impropriety. Can one even divine a pattern?
To impugn Fani Willis for “trumped-up” ((no pun intended) charge or personal impropriety can only be racially motivated. Historically, strong Black women have always been characterized as “angry”. Fani’s responses on the stand were genuine and only questioned as dishonest or hostile because Black women are always supposed to be submissive and respectful. And God help you if you are a Black woman and not chaste even in 2024! Those days are long gone folks.
Ms. Willis is a free, grown and powerful Black woman and I posit that’s why Morning Joe and Andrew Weissmann could not stop themselves from berating her for being a strong Black woman under assault!
