Simple Pleasures
Among our county’s 72 parks we have our favorites, but we constantly try to expand our repertoire. Last summer we saw a sign for Crane Creek Regonal Park and drove down a long road among vineyards and large hillside homes. Crane Creek Regional Park features rolling grasslands and beautiful oaks east of Rohnert Park. The 128-acre park has 3.5 miles of trails and an 18-hole disc golf course. Crane Creek flows through the middle of the park. Ridges offer sweeping views of the countryside
Only one other car was in the lot. It was a warm summer day; we walked seeking shade and picked blackberries. There was little water in the creek.
So today we returned. Only one free parking spot. It was a spectacular day; the parklands were wet from our constant rains. We had heard that meadows werecovered with wildflowers in spring. Too early; we’ll return in the next few weeks. We hiked around and watched foresterbob Young people playing disc golf while we had a picnic lunch.
We just got back, so wrote this in haste. Let it be an open thread.
Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well.
