Last week, I put my Boosting Biden series on hold. It is a series I started at the start of this year that outlines great things that Biden has done. I was publishing one story, every weekday.
I started it because I, like you, think it is essential that Biden defeat Trump in November, I strongly believe that Biden has been a great president, and I really want to do my part in getting him re-elected.
I put the series on hold because I was having a hard time dealing with the suffering in Gaza and felt sympathetic with the people who are working so hard to get Biden to put more pressure on Israel.
I am restarting the series on Monday. I hope that some of you will read the series, rec the series, and share the series if you share my goals (and you like the entries). Too many people are unaware of all Biden has done.
I have not stopped caring about the people of Gaza. I have not stopped wanting Biden to do more.
But I do see him doing more and being tougher and I do see that having some effect. It is tenuous, but it is something.
And I am not alone is seeing a change this past week.
Layla Elabed, a Palestinian-American activist in Michigan who has been one of the most prominent voices warning Biden and Democrats about the domestic political ramifications of the Gaza war, said the past week has her feeling more encouraged than at any point previously in the conflict.
“We have seen a shift in language, a shift in the Biden administration and with Biden himself in the way that they’ve talked about their policy around what’s happening in Gaza and how Israel is handling this,” Elabed told The Daily Beast. “We definitely saw a shift in narrative and a shift in language.”
and from the Biden folks
“The President believes making your voice heard and participating in our democracy is fundamental to who we are as Americans,” campaign spokesperson Charles Lutvak told The Daily Beast in an email. “He shares the goal for an end to the violence and a just, lasting peace in the Middle East. He’s working tirelessly to that end.”
So I am restarting the series. Because of this change and because I think Biden is an amazing POTUS. I think Trump has to be stopped.
I am never going to agree with any president or any person on everything. Heck, I don’t even always agree with everything I have done or said or not done. But I know that Biden is a great man, a great president, and is listening to us and acting.
And you may not agree with me restarting. You might not have agreed with me stopping. That is ok too. We can all disagree as we agree on broader goals. That is how communities work. That is how families work.
I hope that some of you will read, rec, and share the Boosting Biden series. I hope that we will do all we can to re-elect Biden. I hope that Biden’s increased pressure on Israel will work and will be followed by more pressure.
I am grateful to be in community with all of you and I am grateful for the grace you show me when you disagree with me.
I hope to see some of you Monday morning, and then every weekday morning until the election, in the Boosting Biden posts. They go live at 7:30 every weekday. See you Monday! 💖
I am so lucky and so proud to be in this with all of you 💓💚💛🧡✊🏻✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿✊❤️🧡💛💚
