Help me to understand how “We the People”, live in these United States that are/have been, and remain a loosely fashioned group of states that operate under States Rights states? It’s kinda hard not to admit that States Rights clearly reign supreme..
This is an easy experiment: let’s begin - How many states have identical educational goals for students in elementary, middle, and high school? I would posit that none of the fifty states have the exact same academic goals for their students. Learning and academic skills cross this United country are as different as night and day and yet many wonder how citizens of the United States can hold and practice such widely different viewpoints. And yet we do. The division between citizen i reflected in the reality that we all grow-up with vastly differing viewpoints about the foundations of our nation.
States dictate varying motor vehicle laws and regulations. Therefore, the simple act of traveling/motoring between different states can be very challenging for the average citizen, more so for those individuals vacaying from foreign climes.
How municipalities function and govern their citizens presents a nightmare to anyone trying to find common ground between cities, towns, much less states.
So, now we come to how states have approached the issue of abortion, a newly ascribed states rights issue that has negatively impacted the lives of women while a very small majority push to nationally restrict healthcare, and abortion is healthcare and does not necessarily mean the destruction of a viable life. The pro-life folks have prodded, pushed, and demanded that women should not have agency over their bodies/lives. That their religious convictions (note that this country was never meant to be a “Christian” nation) or just simply their cruelty is enough to disenfranchise women from healthcare.
Laws have been and are being passed to penalize/criminalize women if they experience an unplanned spontaneous abortion. The first thee months of gestation is also the most common time for women to experience a spontaneous abortion, and after those three months, women and their babies can face great maternal risk.
It appears that legislators possess little knowledge about women’s bodies much less how they function and yet they, in their “august wisdom” declare that women have less agency over their bodies and future lives than the child that they carry. To see legislators pass laws that not only restrict a woman’s right to agency of her body, but to pass laws that would penalize/criminalize a woman’s mandated, supposedly protected Constitutional Right by women if they travel our-of-state for needed healthcare.
So, these United States are clearly not so united after all. Since the Dobb’s decision, these United States have become a dystopian nightmare!
