This week's edition of "Forays Into Freeperville" began with a little trepidation on my part. It's one thing to read Freeper's comments about our president or his SCOTUS appointees. However, it's quite another thing to read their comments about doctors who perform abortions, particularly late-term abortions.
For those who have never read my "Forays Into Freeperville" diaries, this is the latest installment of my series where I extract some of the more noteworthy comments from the Free Republic forums and present them here for you to marvel at without having to soil yourself. So, without further ado, ladies and gentlemen:
Forays Into Freeperville: "Baby Killer Tiller" Edition
I'm no particular fan of late-term abortions or of abortions of any type but I firmly believe a woman has the right to choose to terminate her pregnancy within the laws of her state and have never considered the doctors and nurses who perform those abortions to anything more than medical personnel.
Not so with many Freepers. For them, those that have anything whatsoever to do with abortions to be evil, Devil-infested, Hell-bound sinners and murders. Pictures of tiny fetuses smiling for the camera, their tiny feets and fingers displayed for the world to "ohhh" and "ahhh" at, are common as are images of bloody fetuses and other unpleasantness.
So venturing into this territory takes a bit of intestinal fortitude. I knew this going in and I was not surprised when I encountered it. I was, however, appalled and nauseated.
Before I begin, I do want to warn you once again that some of these comments are shocking, bordering on heinously repulsive. If you're eating your lunch, perhaps you'll want to wait until after you've finished before going any further.
lilylangtree starts us off with this summary of the how Freepers view the pro-choice/anti-choice debate:
Argument can be made that the needs of the many (unborn) outweigh the needs of the one (stiller). Therefore, elimination was required. Had this been done in Germany when Hitler got started all those millions would be enjoying their great grandchildren.
Whoa. Right off the bat we get an invocation of and comparison of Tiller to Hitler and, of course, Godwin's Law in action. BZZZZT! Sorry, ladylangtree: you lose. Please play again.
m4629 explains things to lilylangtree:
I had a traditional priest clarify this point for me. He said the focal point would be the "imminent condition". Stiller getting shot in church on Sunday would not qualify, but Still getting shot stepping out of his car, walking into his abortion clinic ready to work (sic) would indeed qualify for pre-empting of saving innocent lives.
Ah. I see. So it's okay to shoot Tiller and other abortion doctors if they're on their way to work. But it's a sin to do it any other time. Now that's parsing God's Word down to a very minute level, eh? How do you people keep up with this??? I'd think you'd need leaders to tell you how to think every step of the way if it's that hard to ... Oh. Wait. Nevermind...
In response to an article about the grieving taking place at Dr. Tiller's church, lightman drags the church's pastor into the mud:
There are so many things wrong about this press release it is hard to know where to begin, but I will begin near the beginning:
"All the different stages and symptoms of grief are happening here," said the Rev. Lowell R. Michelson, senior pastor for Reformation, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)
The very FIRST thing quoted from this Pastor is not a word of Scripture, nor a phrase from the liturgy, but a bunch of psychobabble from a psychologist-wannabe.
So let's throw a bit a pschobabble right back--he was definitely an enabler of his deceased parishioner's deviancy.
Yeah, Reverend Michelson! You are a baby-killer-enabler and you'll burn in Hell right alongside him, you evil minion of Satan! How DARE you acknowledge the grief of your parishoners when you harbored this monster in your pews???
wagglebee says:
I have not seen any reports about whether Tiller is being buried or cremated, but he SHOULD NOT be buried in a consecrated cemetery.
Nope. Off to the unconsecrated cemetary for Dr. Tiller, a man performing legal abortions for women who have made a difficult choice. No room in the consecrated cemetaries for people who disagree with wagglebee, uh-uh.
freemama judges Dr. Tiller's ELCA Lutheran church:
Tiller made a good living by killing children and this church did nothing to stop him by preaching repentance to him. Unable to bring him to repentance, it was their Scriptural duty to exclude him from fellowship, but they chose not to.
This is an apostate church. They are certainly not following the teachings of the Bible and of the Lutheran traditions. Let them mourn Tiller. God is mourning for them and for the babies.
Actually, the ELCA's postion on abortion is a remarkably compassionate one and nothing they did or didn't do could be described as not "following the teachings...of the Lutheran traditions". Unless, of course, she's speaking about the Missouri Synod. Those folks would have had no problem whatsoever throwing Dr. Tiller out of their church. They teach the compassion of Jesus and his message of inclusion only to those they deem worthy of their favor. They do that all the time.
MacombBob concurs:
There is no Lutheran church. Traditional Bible believing Lutheran groups, such as the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod are strongly and actively opposed to abortions. For example, the LCMS has a national Lutherans for Life organization and most LCMS churches celebrate Life Sunday in January to bring attention to the life issues. Our local LCMS churches were the primary sponsors of the local anti-abortion counseling center for pregnant women.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the non-Christian branch of Lutheranism, takes a wishy washy opinion, essentially saying it is wrong, but acceptable. Tiller was a member of a ELCA church.
I really envy these people espousing hatred who have the Gospels and the Words of Jesus Christ so clearly figured out. All along I thought Jesus was about Love and understanding and compassion. Silly Eclectablog...
TalonDJ pulls out all the stops in response to another commenter:
Tiller advertised that he would "baptize" the aborted fetuses murdered children upon request.
Before or after he stabbed scissors through their skull? or was it suctioning their brain out through their ear? I am not up on the latest techniques for mutilating babies.
They simply can not make their argument without resorting to the bloody, over-the-top, inaccurate descriptions can they? They actually seem to enjoy it, that's the sick part...
kellynla confirms my point:
Considering that 63 million voted for Obama including 77% of Jewish & 54% of Catholics, I contend that pictures of aborted babies should be posted on EVERY BILLBOARD IN AMERICA! Because after 36 years, Americans have clearly not gotten the message as you contend!
PanzerKardinal throws in the towel:
Ok I’m going to say it and I hope everyone on DU quotes me.
I am angry and sadden that "Christians" have gone so far down the road to Hell that they would honor a monster like Tiller.
Anyone who supports abortion is evil because they are cooperating with Satan.
The blood of 40 million children are on our hands.
God stay your hand of retribution upon this nation.
Well, DKos isn't DU (oh, man, is it not DU...!) but I'ma help PK along here and quote him. Since nearly half the country is pro-Choice, we are apparently a nation of evil, Satanic murderers. Who knew? No wonder it rained on my daughter's graduation and I stubbed my toe on the bed this morning. Until we repent, these kind of things are going to continue, clearly.
Antonius feels (as do so many Freepers) that Dr. Tiller got what he deserved. He only wishes he had been killed by the government...
Frankly, this man deserved the death penalty. In a sane society, the state would have administered it, not some mentally ill vigilante.
Right. We're an insane society because we didn't execute a man who performed legal abortions. Hoo-kay...
tumblindice thinks killing Dr. Tiller is just as bad as killing babies. I think:
I won’t even qualify this with the usual tug-of-the-forelock/deep sigh/`tut tut—murder, it’s an awful thing’ .... that sort of serial apology is the forte of the enemy and assumes that conservatives, rather than the "pro-choice", might sanction murder.
Dr. Tiller, the abortionist-butcher, killed 60 thousand late-term, viable babies.
The lefties can take their broadbrush accusations, breast-beating, gnashing of teeth and hair-shirts and go straight to hell or any one of their three branches of government.
Okay, actually I can't tell what tumblindice thinks. They have their facts wrong, of course (Dr. Tiller did NOT perform 60,000 late-term abortions) but, other than that, I can't sort out what they're trying to say here. And I have to confess I seem to have lost my hair-shirt. [Looks around for his hair-shirt...]
InMaryland just can't quite bring themselves to be Christian:
"Let's pray, too, for the soul of George Tiller, his family, and his murderer, as well as for the conversion of all pro-aborts that they see how destructive abortion is for all human life, not just the child who is killed and the mother who is wounded."
I don't condone vigilante justice. But I'm afraid I can't bring myself to petition God on behalf of this slime Tiller and his enablers. I will pray that his killer sees the error of his ways and repents for his sinful act.
Turret Gunner A21 feels the same way:
...I pity his family. I strongly condemn what he did to desperate women and tiny babies; I strongly condemn the institutional fact-twisting-opinion-shaping machine that burn money for fuel being applied to subvert the legitimate functioning of the marketplace of ideas; I'm not vindictive or rash by nature...but I just can't find it in myself to condemn his murder, for whatever it's worth.
Apparently in InMaryland and Turret Gunner's churches, you don't have to do Christian things if they are hard. Like loving your enemies or feeling compassion for people you disagree with, hard stuff like that. Jesus would be so proud...
Bellflower gets all mystical and shit:
The world is a better place without Tiller. I wonder how many kids are alive today who wouldn’t have lived if Tiller were still alive?
Your comment reminds me of a post I did to TheConservativeParty on another thread about a very telling and timely dream I once had:
The night before the last Abortionist was killed I had a dream. Someone had been murdered and cut open like a deer to be gutted. He was laying clinically on what looked like a surgeon’s table in the middle of a living room. Something very strange, though, lying in the middle of his opened up and bloodied guts was a beautiful baby cooing and gently kicking it legs in the air with a happy, innocent look on it’s face. The next day when the Abortionist was killed I thought because he is dead more beautiful, sweet babies live.
Yeesh. And they call us the crazy ones? Eh? Really?
MrB thinks Tiller's murder will influence politicians:
This incident DOES "step it up a notch"...
Mayhap the pols and the docs will think twice about thwarting the political and legal means to stop their homicide?
Uh, MrB, I really, really doubt that the politicians who make our laws are going to change their opinions because some loonball anti-choice freak killed an abortion doctor. Sorry to pop your bubble there, bud, but them's the facts.
imahawk is indignant:
I dont remember the people voting to legalize abortion on demand.Yet we are supposed to uphold laws passed by activist judges?KMA ruling class.
Always with the "activist judges" with you people...
humblegunner asks a question and Eaker responds:
What about all the women who requested the abortions?
Should they be killed too?
Late term abortions which was Tiller’s specialty?
Perhaps they should be
So wait, let me get this straight 'cause I have a hard time following you guys sometimes. It's a sin to have an abortion because, for you, it's murdering a baby. But you're fine with killing the abortion doctor AND the mother if it's a late-term abortion? And you call yourself PRO-LIFE?
[Eclectablog's head asplodes]
nonliberal is ironic:
Jesus would slap the living shit out of this guy.
WWJS? Or, from the comments: WWJSTSOO?
But wait! metmom wants to kill the mom's, too:
Women who choose to have abortions have taken out a contract to have their babies murdered. They have essentially hired a hit man to kill their babies.
Now if anyone contracts to murder another human being, that person is considered complicate in the crime of murder and is just as guilty of it as the murderer.
The penalty for murder should be leveled at everyone involved who takes deliberate action to kill another human being.
Well, I'm assuming she wants to kill them. Maybe she just wants them to go to jail. However, based on the level of logic used by most Freepers, I'm thinkin' she probably thinks execution is the appropriate response to the sin of killing someone. Hey, don't look at me, I don't get it either...
P-Marlowe asks:
There have been no late term abortions in Kansas since 5/31/09.
Who are you going to thank for that?
Ummmm...Tiller BustersTM???
Clintonfatigued seems to detect a conspiracy:
Someone else will fill the gap, and in the meantime, Tiller the Killer has become a martyr. Don’t be surprised if Lifetime Television films a bio. This happens just as public opinion had turned in the pro-life movement’s corner.
Probably O-Zero's fault, eh, Clintonfatigued?
Nuc1 makes a dubious leap:
No tears For Tiller. You cannot kill that many babies and not like doing it.
Uhhh...right. Okey-dokey...
And, finally, the best (and most ironic) one of all, from Syncro:
Like I said, Free Republic is for intelligent and mature people.
Shower time. This one was particularly bad for me. Have fun in the comments.
