A lot of people have had a first hand taste of right wingnuttery. Some face to face, some over the internet. What many people don't realize, however, is that you don't have to be a member of the right to be a wingnut. Heck, you may be a wingnut and not even know it.
So, without further ado, let's take a look at wingnuttery right here on Daily Kos and find out if you might be a wingnut:
Wingnuts never respond to criticism of their chosen authority figure with well reasoned defenses, only ad hominem attacks or posts with no substance, and they never stray far from their talking points. You're either with them or against them. Therefore...
If someone posts a diary critical of Obama and your comment is that the diarist is a whiner, crybaby and "didn't get his pony" you might be a wingnut.
If a diarist reflects on possible reasons for Obama's declining popularity and you actually take the time to hit comment and then type yawn you might be a wingnut.
If your response to that same diary was Troll Alert!...Troll Alert! you might be a wingnut.
Now, if you're at a teabagger convention and they're saying Obama's not really president because he doesn't have a legitimate birth certificate and you show them his legitimate birth certificate, right after calling a fellow Kossack a whiner for criticizing Obama for not pushing harder for healthcare reform, then you still might be a wingnut, just not one of their wingnuts.
If you think you're somehow defending Obama by labelling his critics Naderites well, you might be a wingnut.
If someone posts any diary critical of Obama and you get two sentences into the diary and then immediately post a comment because you simply have to be sure the first reply to that diary is absolutely as negative as it can be, then you not only might be a wingnut, but you seriously need a life.
If someone's views about Obama don't agree with yours so you troll rate them, you might be a wingnut.
If everytime someone makes the rec list with a diary criticizing Obama you feel the overwhelming urge to post a response diary to defend him, you might be a wingnut.
And if you think, as many Kossacks are starting to, that there may be gangs or an organized group going around and trying to suppress progressives on this website in order to promote Party or Administration agenda, then you probably aren't a wingnut and as Slinkerwink once told a fellow Kossack:
Kossacks certainly have been (24+ / 0-)
...extremely independent but recently I think I have detected a change of tone at this blog. Some diarists and commenters seem to be promoting Party and Administration policy, not so much analytically agreeing with them, as shilling for them. I've seen people who disagree with an approved position called Nader-ites or worse, Clintonistas, simply for saying that an approved policy doesn not seem well advised.
What is going on here? Or am I imagining things!

So what is it folks? Are we going to debate policy like adults around here? Or like wingnuts? And the most important question: Are we going to put up with the wingnuttery or are we going to demand an end to it and demand to be treated with the respect we deserve and have earned?
