What Are You Working On is a community diary series for all things crafty, in a variety of mediums and techniques.

You may volunteer to guest host by signing up at this yahoo group, which I check from time to time. Also by joining this group, you will receive one email a week when the diary is posted.

My local yarn store, Blazing Needles, had a class on knitted toys on their schedule.  I arranged some child-free time and signed up!

Here is my current status (I am a slow knitter, I think)

The purl ridges on the "top" make the scaly skin pattern!

Author Anna Hrachovec even has a mochimochi web page with even more ideas!  In case the UFO, human beans, squirrel with wheels, pig with wigs, etc. isn't enough for you.

And there is a whole universe in teh google search!

I am head-over-heels in love with these little things!

What is so attractive about the miniature?

Many crafts have miniature version:  quilts, doll houses, paintings, baking.  They're all so darn cute.  Faster to finish.  Use less materials.

Do you make miniature anything?  Does your craft or art have a miniature subdivision?

Recent Diaries of Arty Crafty Note:
WAYWO: Knit along with me redux+  I ordered my yarn and downloaded the pattern.  I sense a skill-increasing project here.
ArtKos: Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.291+ oh, will he still stop by our place now that he has his own group? ;-)
Night Two: Introduction to Nose Work  sheddhead is being extraordinarily creative.

My progress this week:

On the Spontaneous Hat, I have one more cable row then I start the decreases for shaping the top of the hat.  I am using Bernat Alpaca Blend, 70% acrylic and 30% alpaca.  I think there is just enough woolishness in the alpaca to help the acrylic behave better during the cable rows.  The fabric is soft when knitted, but seems a bit scratchy while being knitted.

I finger-blocked my Heart to Heart shawl-lette and took a couple photos the other night.

I can actually see the heart pattern now, with 7 of 19 increasing repeats done.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
