... from among many, many Waterloo contenders ...
First let me remind you how the current incarnation of the GOP has not yet learned to "play nicely with others" ...
Republican leader identifies party's priority
by Michael A. Memoli, LATimes, Tribune Washington Bureau -- Oct 27, 2010
McConnell explained that "the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."
Talk about making Government work for everyone --
NOT with this love-the-millionaires Congress.
Heh.
Let me remind you of the seeds of discontent being sowed from the Tea Party's alpha-dog "Pit Bull" himself ...
“Believe it or not, some in this town have actually condoned the pitting of Americans against Americans,” Cantor said after he condemned the protests as mobs. That comment appeared to pick up on the “class warfare” meme Republicans are using to attack President Obama’s jobs bill.
You can always count on
the GOP to blame everyone else, except for the guy in the mirror.
Afterall, they DO have their marching orders ...
GOP Senator Won't Retreat from "Waterloo" Comment
by Daniel Carty, CBSNews -- July 22, 2009
Republican Sen. Jim DeMint refused to back down from comments last week in which he said a White House defeat on health care reform would be President Obama's "Waterloo."
"If we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him," the South Carolina Republican, pictured center, was quoted last week as telling fellow conservatives.
Waterloo is a reference to French Emperor Napoleon's final defeat in 1815 at the hands of a British-led coalition, before finally being sent into permanent exile.
I always wondered if the GOP hates 'governing' so much,
WHY do they even seek office in the first place?
It must be some sort of power-trip, I guess ...
Well after that quick recap along GOP memory lane, here is the thing that will be the GOP's Waterloo, in 2012
from among the many, many me-first contenders ...
Jobless claims reach four-year low

Weekly jobless claims in the U.S. fell by 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted 348,000 in the week ended Feb. 11, the Labor Department said Thursday. That's the lowest level since March 2008, when the U.S. was in the early stages of a recession. [...]
In terms of metrics, keep in mind, when these jobless claims fall below the 400,000 threshold, it's considered evidence of an improving jobs landscape. When the number drops below 370,000, it suggests jobs are actually being created rather quickly.
We've now dropped below 370,000 for two consecutive weeks, and three of the last five weeks.

As Chris Hayes
noted today about this Chart, the Jobless Rate began improving
immediately AFTER Obama's
American Recovery Act was passed. Once again no thanks to the GOP. (see the arrow in the Chart for this important turning point.)
So what does that encouraging trendline mean for the GOP pretenders?
Well let's let the Weeper of the House explain its significance:
His partner has an idea how to make it happen
by Catalina Camia, USA Today, onpolitics -- Apr 25, 2011
"Who knows," Boehner said to ABC, when asked about Obama's chances in 2012. "But if the economy doesn't get better, I don't think he'll win.
Guess what Boehner --
It's getting better! ... no thanks to the
GOP stonewalling at every turn.
Say goodbye to the Gavel Johnny ... it was {not} fun while it lasted.
Remember Waterloo, it's not just a nice town in the Midwest, anymore. They're words to be thrown-out-of-office by.
Good riddance. It couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.
