My friends, who want a child more than anyone I have ever met, have been in the hospital for almost a month, desperately trying to delay the birth of their little girl. Despite heroic efforts, she was born yesterday at 27 weeks, four days. She is under two pounds and very ill. She is at one of the best medical facilities in California, and getting the very best care. But the doctors can't guarantee if she'll survive, or how much brain damage she'll have if she does.
Please, send prayers, positive thoughts, well wishes, and healing energy her way. Sheer stubbornness has gotten them this far, and might be enough to see them through. But we'll take any help we can get. Please pray for Mirabella and her parents.
Thank you.
Sun Jun 03, 2012 at 3:51 PM PT: I'm afraid the news is not good. Mirabella hasn't made any movement on her own in days. They will be doing more test in the next day or so. They want all the information they can get before they need to make some very difficult decisions. The doctors have warned them to prepare for the worse.
Her parents called all of their friends to the hospital today. Her father gathered us in the courtyard and explained the situation. Then he took us upstairs, three at a time, to see her. It wasn't as frightening as I expected. She's tiny and purple, but in the end, she's just a baby. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but we needed to be there, to be witness to this child's life.
The prayers change now. Now, we pray that everyone involved will have the wisdom to make the right choices. And that her parents will have the strength to get through it. Thank you for your support. It means a lot.
