More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

there was a story last week regarding Louisiana, wherein certain Christian schools that qualify for taxpayer funded vouchers are adopting a textbook that espouses creationism.  In the textbook, one of the "proofs"  that humans co-existed with dinosaurs is the Loch Ness Monster, which, don't you know, is a dinosaur (I think they said it was a plieosaur?).

Of course, using a fictional lake creature to prove a fictional creationism story is shit-house crazy, but hey what else is new about Repubs.

There's good reason to be afraid of what the future will bring when all these Loch Ness Monster-"educated" children are voting.

right to vote by the time these children become adults.  A right wing religious theocracy who probably organize into a religious council organized on religious principles with a consensus opinion among the mullahs as to what national policy should be.

  •  Gov. Jindal is bucking for a V.P. nomination. (5+ / 0-)

He is trying to endear himself to the hard right with a comprehensive voucher system that was passed in a midnight session of the Legislature with almost no public scrutinity.

Part ot the voucher program will have the state paying for religious schools like the one in Westlake which uses the Loch Ness Monster as proof that "dinosaurs are still with us and therefore evolution is bogus". This scheme will use public funding to finance bizarre indoctrination programs from the far right, but as long as it helps his campaign for V.P it seems alright with the governor.

Another part of his efforts to curry favor with the ultra-right saw him proclaiming that Louisiana will not accept Medicaid supplements from the Feds and will not implement the risk sharing mechanisms of the ACA.

Louisiana, already on the bottom  part of the bottom rung of all the states when it comes to things like income, health care and education takes another step backward.  It is a testament to the power of prejudice and fundamentalist indoctrination that those who are most adversely affected by these changes will flock to vote for those who are exploiting them. I am a Louisianian born and raised and must say that my state has a sad history of demagoguery and self-defeating ideology. Unions have long since succumbed to "right to work" which was promoted years ago on the fear that blacks would use the unions to steal white jobs.

So bring out the fiddle and washboard and let the "Bon Ton Roulet" while big oil ravages the coastline and extracts all the mineral wealth to the enrichment of out-of-state corporations which,  in the meantime, give in return only a temporary scattering of relatively low-paying jobs and the promise of a bleak future when the oil has played out. And Jindall sells us out on the short term altar of his own ambition instead of trying to build a solid foundation in Lousiana for the generations to come.

Mitt supports self-deportation for illegal immigrants and I support self-secession for Louisiana.

Didn't anyone in the entire state of Louisiana learn the LN hoaxer confessed?
