The GOP must be so proud of the depth and breadth of its misogynist bench.  "Legitimate rape."  Nude swimming with staffers at the Sea of Galilee.  A 2-years-long all-out war on women at the federal and state level.

And now, all the way down to Oregon state legislature.  News is breaking that a group of Republican conservative "family values" legislators partied at a topless bar while vacationing together at a million-dollar mansion in Palm Springs, CA:

SALEM -- With Republicans still reeling from the sex scandal involving Rep. Matt Wingard and a young female staffer, former House Republican Leader Kevin Cameron confirmed he abruptly stepped down last month, in part, because of a retaliatory threat that the public would find out about the night he and other GOP lawmakers -- including Wingard -- spent at a California topless bar.

Men who hate women:

In January, Cameron, House Co-Speaker Bruce Hanna and five other Republican House members took a three-day golfing vacation to Palm Springs, where they also visited a bar featuring topless dancers.

...

Wingard's decision to remove his name from the November ballot after a 20-year-old staffer accused him of an unwanted sexual relationship has sparked an attempt to recall the party's Washington County chairwoman because she sided with the young woman. It has also focused a spotlight on an all-male leadership team that has been criticized for its exclusivity.

That's right!  These misogynistic freaks are trying to destroy the female GOP chair of Washington County because she refused to participate in a "conspiracy of silence" when she found out about Wingard's sexual relationship with a young staffer.  Pigs.
In addition to Hanna and Cameron, the entourage included Republican whip Tim Freeman, R-Roseburg; Rep. Vic Gilliam, R-Silverton; Rep. Matt Wand, R-Troutdale; and Rep. Patrick Sheehan, R-Clackamas.
Family values!  And titties!

After GOP Leader Kevin Cameron found out about the Wingard sex scandal, he was forced to act:

"I made a phone call to Matt and said, 'If you don't step back from your candidacy, then I will have to publicly call for your resignation,'" Cameron said. "That did not go over well."

It was after Wingard had pulled his name from the ballot that Cameron said he heard talk in GOP circles that Wingard might go public about the men's' Palm Springs vacation.

Wingard was busted for hitting his kid with a screwdriver, never married the mother of his child, and is reported to have provided alcohol to young staffers at a (different) wild weekend at the Oregon coast.

Wingard is the trusted adviser, BFF and strategist for the odious John Ludlow, the tea party bully with a bad temper and a big mouth running for Clackamas County chair.  (If you can spare a few dollars, please donate to Charlotte Lehan, Ludlow's Democratic opponent.)

More piggish male Republican behavior in Oregon:

SALEM – Here's something you don't see -- or hear -- everyday at the Oregon Legislature: A Republican telling a Democrat to shut her mouth on the House floor.

... Rep. Wayne Krieger, R-Gold Beach, said, "Shut your mouth," while Rep. Carolyn Tomei, D-Milwaukie, was speaking about a bill earlier today. Tomei later demanded a formal apology, which she didn't get.

"No, she should apologize," Krieger said.

Asshole.

These people have no decency.  It's all about "do as I say, not as I do."  They are really in the Handmaid's Tale realm at this point.  Women don't deserve any form of respect.  The male elite can do as they please - rules and standards of conduct, apparently, are only for lowly peons who can't be trusted.

Given that this much has gone public, God only knows what else the men of the American GOP have been up to that hasn't come out yet.

Despicable.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
