Salon bravely reports that Glenn Beck is demanding an American Airlines flight attendant be fired, FIRED, I tell you because of a horrible, awful, truly terrible thing that happened to him in flight.
There was Glenn. A paying passenger. And there was the flight attendant. A paid servant. The flight attendant distributed cans of soda. Uh-huh. You can see how terribly wrong THAT could go, can't you?
The flight attendant opened said cans of soda. Except for Glenn's. And when the flight attendant put Glenn's unopened can down on Glenn's tray, he didn't put it down softly and gently as Glenn has a right to expect from a paid servant.
Glenn also overheard that SAME flight attendant telling passengers how proud he was of America's "liberal" cities.
CAN YOU IMAGINE?
You've flown, right? Been a passenger? But have you ever experienced or witnessed anything that OUTRAGEOUS?
Glenn's told his fans they shouldn't boycott AA over this, no. But that flight attendant should be FIRED. And he's naturally disgusted by AA's slow pace in addressing the atrocity worked upon his noble, delicate person.
AA says it's checking out the facts.
BUT. BUT, I tell you! Glenn has a witness.
His wife was on the same flight. She was, in fact, seated directly across the aisle from him. Ah-hah!
He's volunteered her account:
Beck said that even his wife, seated directly across the aisle, didn’t notice anything unusual.
And we know all this only because Glenn had the courage and goodness to go on the air about it.
So there, AA. Fire that uppity flight attendant!
Or Glenn will cry.
Also, too:
A re-enactment of the plane's take-off at Newark- I put Crying Baby #1 down for the night. Here's Crying Baby #2 to work the night shift - crying for compassion, crying for patriotism, and crying for sanity!
...
And then it rained in Charlotte. What a world. What a world.
Play with the tags all you want. I'll open my own can.
UPDATE: Wiser heads note this is actually a pretty damn serious issue for the flight attendant. Agreed. Diary title amended. Snark remains, not out of disregard for the flight attendant, but because Glenn Beck is a dangerously arrogant asshole.
4:34 PM PT: UPDATE 2: If you want to tell American Airlines that you believe Glenn Beck's wife's account of the flight and that you think it's simply awful he could use his media position to threaten someone's job for no reason, they take compliments, complaints, and comments here: http://www.aa.com/...
