On September 11, almost a month ago, I posted the following comment:
This is why I am nervous about the debate (2+ / 0-)
I don't think the President is a very good debator, at least not in this context. He was probably great in college, but in the real world of politics, not so much. When Romney lies he will say "well, that's not true" and then try to provide a nuanced response that most people won't connect with.
I hope he is watching the Kennedy/Romney debate and taking a lot of notes.
You can see the comment and the responses
here.
I was told to calm down, quit being so nervous and it was suggested I didn't know what I was talking about. You can see my comment was uprated 2 times and the reply telling me I didn't know what I was talking about was uprated 67 times.
But, I did know what I was talking about. Am I psychic?
(answer after the jump)
Am I psychic? No. Just engaged.
I've been a supporter of Barack Obama since February 2007. Not a passive supporter, an active supporter. I canvassed for him, phone banked for him, volunteered at campaign events, etc. I was a precinct captain, a precinct delegate, a county delegate and a state delegate. I was engaged through the entire primary season and the general election and am still engaged.
I knew how this debate would go because this is how all the debates went back then.
And, guess what? Everyone freaked out then, too.
And, guess what else? We won. The primary and the general.
And, guess what else, again? We are going to win again.
Even if it is true that some undecided voters come out of the debating liking Mitt Romney more than they did going in, they will not come out liking him MORE THAN President Obama. At worst, they may come out liking them equally. If that happens, Obama wins. He is the known quantity. If you like two people equally, you vote for the guy you know. You vote for the guy who has been consistent for the last four years and who you can count on to be consistent for FOUR MORE YEARS.
Mitt Romney may have turned around some of his likability numbers, that doesn't mean he won the election, because people still like the President.
President Obama did not do anything to make himself less likable during the debate. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. As long as he stays likable, he wins.
Wed Oct 03, 2012 at 9:21 PM PT: Oh, and one more thing. Mitt Romney lied, a lot. And we have sound bites of him lying, a lot. And of him admitting he will turn Medicare into a voucher system. And, we have more footage of him debating himself on taxes.
