One last thought you guys: When I was a boy, I used to think that becoming rich and becoming famous would make me happy. Boy was I right! (laughing)
- Mitt Romney
Reading through today's
New York Times piece about how the Obama Campaign and the President
are responding to what they all clearly understood to be a big loss and missed opportunity Wednesday night, one particular paragraph leaped out at me:
On stage, Mr. Obama seemed thrown off as Mr. Romney emphasized elements of his agenda that seemed more moderate and was surprised that the moderator, Jim Lehrer of PBS, did not pose more pointed questions. The president’s team had decided in advance not to raise Mr. Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital, aides said, but Mr. Obama held back on other attack lines they had intended to use. The base wanted him “to gut Romney,” one adviser said, but swing voters hate that and he was seeking a balance. Few thought he found it.
I'm so pleased that the campaign has dismissed this line of thinking and now understands the need for a guy like Romney to indeed get gutted. Swing voters will get behind Obama, but they want to see the fight in him. Not just from the campaign, but from him. Watching the President on the stump, after having shaken the cold, clammy hand of a scumbag like Romney, he now understands Romney isn't any ordinary opponent. I think everyone should read Lawrence Lewis'
column published yesterday. He's spot on. Mitt Romney isn't even your average Republican nutcase. He is
one of the worst human beings to ever seek the office.
Democrats hate his sense of entitlement. His disdain for anyone who isn't wealthy. His entire life is a case study of all that has gone wrong with this country and its elites. That someone as depraved as him could ever get this close to the presidency is not only an indictment of the modern Republican Party, but a stinging in your face middle finger to the entire conception of modern democracy.
Just look at that video and you can see why Mitt Romney cannot be tolerated or treated with anything approaching basic respect. He must be destroyed so that someone like him never ever gets this close to leading this nation.
