It's an interesting question asked at Wiki Answers:
What kind of jobs does Mitt Romney's son have?
Tagg Romney is a Managing Partner at Solamere Capital.
One wonders.
Mitt was President, CEO, and sole shareholder when he launched Bain Capital (Romney Capital).
Pulling himself up by his boot straps, Tagg labored with the $10 million seed money his dad's Blind Trust lawyer dropped into Tagg's start-up. I wonder if Father Mitt shared his Roladex with Tagg? Even if Mitt didn't know he was an investor, you would think he would be eager to help his First Born succeed in the same business Mitt enjoyed making his billions: Private Equity
Well, especially if Mitt didn't know he had helped provide seed money for Tagg, you would think he would be more eager to help, frustrated that he couldn't hand Tagg a few $Million here and there. Then again, the "family lawyer" does handle Mitt's $Hundreds of Millions in his blind trust. Mitt's honest has me convinced he is definitely clueless about what is in his trust (snark).
Tagg is walking in Mitt's footsteps:
About Solamere (Although th website doesn't seem to be working today).
Solamere Capital was formed by a collection of influential industry leaders (the “Founders”) to identify premier private equity opportunities by leveraging their unparalleled networks, business expertise, and access to compelling opportunities. Solamere Capital works directly with these Founders in a multi-family office capacity, providing superior service and a diversified mix of top-tier private equity investments.
But I was able to find the
Security Exchange Commission's Investment Adviser Public Disclosure brochure for Solamere.
It might be interesting for A JOURNALIST to compare Tagg's with his dad's Bain Capital Venture Partners, LLC Sec Brochure
Romney's Bain consists of only 4 entities according to SEC documentation:
- Bain Capital Partners, LLC, which focuses on leveraged buyouts and growth capital in a wide variety of industries, $ 32,457,000,000 assets under management, 14 accounts.
- Brookside Capital, LLC, the public equity affiliate of Bain Capital, whose primary objective is investing in securities of publicly traded companies that offer opportunities to realize substantial long-term capital appreciation. $11,188,000,000 assets under management, 4 accounts.
- Sankaty Advisors, LLC, which uses fundamental credit analysis to identify attractive investment opportunities and seeks superior risk adjusted returns, primarily in credit products and fixed-income investments. Sankaty Advisors, LLC has $15,530,000,000 in assets under management and 38 accounts.
- Absolute Return Capital, LLC, which manages assets in fixed income, equity and commodity markets to produce attractive risk-adjusted returns while maintaining low correlation to traditional investments. $ 3,042,000,000 assets, 3 accounts
An even more interesting of an investigation might be
analyzing how Bain Capital Venture Partners, LLC answered the SECs questionaire.
But, alas, will any journalists do so?
Being Mitt's son has many perks. Here's one:
In Utah for Romney retreat, Rove spoke at Solamere Capital event
Rove's speech was delivered on June 22, the Friday of the retreat weekend, to about 200 wealthy guests, including quite a few money harvesters for the Romney campaign, according to GOP sources who attended but requested anonymity in order to speak freely.
Tagg Romney and Spencer Zwick founded Solamere in 2008, and it has enjoyed a flurry of financial successes in part because of investments by some longtime Romney backers like ex-eBay chieftain Meg Whitman (her son got to work at Solamere, too), as well as Mitt and Ann Romney themselves, who put $10 million into the fledgling venture. Zwick referred questions about the event to a Solamere spokesperson.
And, yes, G Scott Romney IS Mitt Romney's brother.
Did I mention the connections with R. Allen Stanford? This guy here:
And was it legal for Tagg Romney and Karl Rove (Solemere) to dovetail the Romney Park City, UT fundraiser with an Investor meeting?
Who might have attended?
Here is a video of the jets that were parked in Heber City, UT that weekend: (turn down the sound, it's a drive by video shoot)
Oh, btw, I spent some time researching who the jets belonged to here:

Either way, expect Spencer Zwick to remain close by their sides:
Spencer Zwick is Romney's Karl Rove With a Privatised Twist
Spencer Zwick is Romney's Karl Rove with a privatized twist:
Zwick isn’t employed by the campaign. Instead, he works through SJZ Inc., a Boston company he formed that has taken in nearly $5 million for “fundraising consulting” from Romney this election season.
And Zwick is simultaneously keeping an eye on funding his private equity firm, Solamere.
So many interests, so much money, so little time. Sigh!
Lastly, now that the New York Times has blown the story of court cases implicating BainCapital and other large Private Equity Firms colluding with each other over take overs etc, one must wonder if they gather around and help poor Tagg?
