The polling news has been good for the Obama campaign today. The Romney warnings of a new recession was not a surprise. Anyone who has seen the Romney Campaign in action would be apt to compare it to South Park's Eric Cartman.
Cartman is an obese, immature, rude, disrespectful, spoiled, selfish, manipulative, lazy, foul-mouthed, deluded, mean-spirited, sadistic, racist, sexist, anti-semitic, homophobic, xenophobic, sociopathic, narcissistic, and ill-tempered elementary school student living with his unwed mother in the fictional town of South Park, Colorado, where he routinely has extraordinary experiences not typical of conventional small-town life. Despite his many personality flaws, he is also depicted as being highly intelligent, outspoken, cunning and streetwise. He is one of few multilingual characters on the show, and is depicted speaking Spanish, French and German. He tends to make effective use of his capabilities by executing morally appalling—yet highly successful—business ideas.
Hmmm...90% match to my mind. In Cartman's own words, today's Romney statement was SCREW YOU GUYS I'M GOING HOME!
Over the summer it was obvious that there was no central campaign theme for the Romney's. This was all about an anti-Obama vote. Over the summer, Chicago beat the living shit out of Romney's Bain time.
Everything about the Romney campaign has been dishonest and opaque. The American public never got full disclosure on his taxes. He has lied about policy positions. He has been reckless and stupid with foreign policy issues. In short, his entire campaign, if America were truly honest, has disqualified him from being president.
So this is the last weekend of the campaign. And I will be completely honest: I have been appalled by the antics of the Romney campaign and the candidate himself. Willard Mitt Romney has shown the ethics of an eel in snake's clothing. He has said anything and EVERYTHING to any audience if he thought it would help him in THAT moment. The goal appears to have been to win at any cost even though the presidency was only a final line on his resume. I say that because never has he shown an ounce of caring about the nation as a whole; his 47% remarks illustrated that clearly.
So, now with the end in sight, we can look back and see that his campaign really has careened from one tactic to another with no vision in mind. They would do or say anything because they had nothing.
