For the last few months, my family has been feeding a stray cat that I saw scrounging in the garbage at the motel where we live. When I met this cat, I could tell he was young, but he was also extremely thin. Otherwise he seemed to be in good condition. Please join me below the orange kitty toy.
Mittens Now the cat comes by twice a day for breakfast and dinner. He has nearly tripled in size. He is still a bit skittish, but seems to be content to have us near while he eats and will even play with a bit of yarn with my son.
We have all enjoyed watching this cat grow healthy and strong from our efforts at feeding him. Even though we have little ourselves, it is heartwarming to be able to help our fellow needy being. I believe the experience has been a good one for my son in several ways. (sharing, taking care of the needy, watching growth) We are going to take him with us, and of course have him neutered, when we go to a permanent home.
Last night as he was eating dinner, we finally settled on a name. He is now, of course, Mittens.
