FIRED UP, READY TO GO(VERN)!
Austin area Kossacks (known here as CenTex Kossacks): Let's meet up this sunday from 2pm til 5ish at Black Star Co-Op on lamar at airport.
Follow below the fold for info.
I tried a poll and had limited success, but here's the deal:
i know everyone is tired of politics. i know. i do. (well, maybe not around here, but tired of elections at least.)
The beauty is that YAY! the election is over. The real work can begin. We're home from the grocery store, let's cook something tasty.
The problem everyone has about "we just elect a guy and he does the same old same old..." comes from hiring someone and then not watching their job performance. the election was grueling, but now is the time to pay attention. There's work to do and we just hired the guy to do it. Let's help him get it done, and tell him when he's missing it.
Everyone's particular issue groups will likely see a drop off in volunteer support in the coming months as we all let election fever go. Instead, if you ever thought of helping a group or volunteering, do it this coming year! Governing is a looong game.
To that end, I want to sit down with anyone who wants to stop by this sunday at Black Star Co-Op
http://www.blackstar.coop/
and discuss what we can do for the Texas Dem Party, the national government, and anything else that needs attention starting the day after the election (now).
Fired Up! Ready to Govern!

Sun Nov 11, 2012 at 4:11 PM PT: Well, that was one great first meeting. All good ideas have to start somewhere, and generally start small. Today it was Monzano, Teknohed and our significant others getting together to talk about progressive values, winning over conservative friends and family, and how to discuss progressive values and programs in a second-term world.
it's wonderful to meet up face to face, folks. bonds get forged faster and stronger, and there's a really motivating effect when you realize you're at a table with people who want to see the same changes in the world that you want to see.
Texas is going to go blue in our lifetimes. Not because it's inevitable, but because people like those here on dkos strike while the iron is hot.
Thanks to Teknohed for making it out and being a great part of a great community. Onward and Forward. Let's think up stuff and get it done!
