This will be short...
I heard sirens close by last night, and now I know why. Just a couple blocks away from my house:
Police say a 30-year-old man from Seattle has been killed and another man wounded in a shooting at a crowded bar in Bellevue, Wash., east of Seattle. This doesn't happen very often here. In fact, from 1999 - 2010, there were seven murders. I couldn't find data for 2011, but 2012 was projected to be one prior to last night's incident. This prior murder didn't involve a gun, if I recall correctly. So that's two murders here for the year...
Officer Carla Iafrate says the shooting broke out just after 1 a.m. Monday at Munchbar in the Bellevue Square shopping center. More than 600 people were inside the bar at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene, telling local media they dove for cover as gunfire erupted.
And yet another gun-related one to add to the body count for the nation.
Are these post-Sandy Hook gun-related deaths a spate? Or is it just the media paying more attention, and if so, will it last, or fade-off when something more "trendy" comes along to catch the media's attention?
. . .
Hat tip to @Gundeaths on Twitter for calling my attention to the AP article.
