Merkley's stated target is to raise $10,000 by January 31st.

Let's help him hit $51,000 -- as a symbol of the effective 51 vote majority rule that he and we sought, and continue to seek, for the Senate.

Each contribution that ends in "$.51" would help send the right message, which would ideally be heard loud and clear by (and copied by email to) Feinstein, Boxer, and other Senators who were not sufficiently supportive of strong filibuster reform.

Brown's fundraising email of today on behalf of Merkley says "Jeff and I serve together on the Senate Banking Committee. I've seen his work first-hand."  This helps confirm the impression, from recent filibuster wars, that Merkley merits heavy support from Progressives.

He is going to need it, in view of the reports that Reid and others are angry at him for breaking their unwritten rule against publicizing the attitudes of named Senators.

Update: Brown's ActBlue page for Merkley is here: https://secure.actblue.com/...

Sun Jan 27, 2013 at  7:06 AM PT: Solicitation for $ to Merkley was emailed today by Progressive Change Campaign Committee PAC (contribution link at: https://secure.actblue.com/...); Also the Dkos filibuster contribution page with Merkley, T.Udall, Warren remains active (see: https://secure.actblue.com/...); and the Blue America PAC has a page that includes Merkley, Franken and Mass candidate Ed Markey (see: https://secure.actblue.com/...)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
