Sunday!

Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

Yesterday, I tried a new method of organizing and cleaning my house, since the previous dozen didn't work.

I decided that instead of cleaning and organizing room by room, or quadrant of room by quadrant of room, or by item, or from the top down, or from shelves and cabinets out, or a number of other ways, I'd try organizing by project.

I have a number of ongoing projects in my life and they all take stuff. And I have all their stuff mingled so I have to hunt when I work on a project.

So, yesterday, because OctopodiCon is the next major project and has the most stuff that needs organizing, I decided to haul all the OctopodiCon stuff into one place, sort it, file what needed filing, box the supplies, label everything, and stack it in a corner so I could move on to the Water Paws project, then the Monthly Teas project (that, oddly, is already mostly organized which was the inspiration for getting everything else organized by project), then all my other projects, and before you know it, I'll have a normal house with bins stacked everywhere...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
