Sara R Needs Just a Bit More NN13 Funding
Update: Sara has received $595 from you all! Thanks so much! Hopefully new eyes will see this second request to see if we can raise the remaining $405.
Last week, it was announced that Sara R had won an Armando/Alexander NN13 Scholarship™! She'll receive a registration and $500 for expenses. This is terrific! In Sara's own words, she and her sister Ann live on a shoestring budget. The Community Quilt Project is their livelihood. A recent fundraiser was held to secure recurring monthly donations so they can pay their bills. While the free NN13 registration and much needed $500 gift is fantastic for them they are still going to need a bit more to travel to San Jose and stay in a hotel. Sara estimates the hotel will cost $1000. Parking $110 since they are driving and $350 for gas. Let's round up to $1500. So with the $500 starter award they'll still need a minimum of $1000.
The Sisters R will have a booth in the exhibit hall at which they'll have a quilt to sign. This quilt will be used to raise money for a candidate through Act Blue.
Sara has also organized the Palo Alto VA Hospital Wheelchair Quilt Project. She recruited volunteers to make several 36" x 60" quilts that she is going to deliver to the Spinal Cord Injury Unit upon her arrival in the Bay Area for NN13. This is very typical of how Sara thinks. She's always providing comfort to those who need it. You can help Sara help others by donating to her PayPal account at rainwoman AT mac DOT com. Let us know in the comments if you were able to help out.
Also, if cats own you or others please buy your owner a pootie-pad at Sara's website and command the others held captive that they must appease the cat who rulez their house also.
Recent community quilts finished and in progress:
Clytemnestra's on the left, Oke's in the center and shanikka's on the right
which is the 100th quilt the Sisters R have produced!
Summary: Sara R needs $405 more to attend NN13

Sreeizzle2012 Needs Airfare
to Attend NN13
Sreeizzle2012 is a young Maryland Progressive, Community Activist, Cancer Research Fundraiser, Medical Student, Baltimore Ravens Fan, Pianist, and Singer.
He competed for a scholarship to NN13 and got very close. He wasn't chosen, but now has a donated registration and hotel room. Sree is one of our younger kossacks, going into the medical profession. It's his dream to go to NN13.
He only needs $650 to cover airfare and expenses (like a cab to the convention center). I wonder if someone has airline miles out there they can donate. Please kosmail me STAT if you can help. Or Sreeizzle2012's PayPal address.
"This year is my best chance to go to Netroots Nation. I will be busy with medical school starting in August. Most importantly, I want to grow as an activist and broaden my activism nationally. I was able to make a difference locally through college, volunteering at hospitals, and free clinics. Netroots Nation is the ideal next step and place to grow and learn with new people. They will provide me with new opportunities and challenges. I will make new friends and allies. I will inspire them while they teach me a lot. I have already inspired people on dailykos, Obama campaign volunteers, and people suffering the wrath of the insurance industry." "Dailykos and activism mean so much to me. You all have inspired me to fight for a better world and country for us. As a future physician, Netroots Nation will give me the opportunity to really connect with others on how to further improve our health care system and improve underserved communities. It will also help me in my medical studies."
Sreeizzle2012 is a * New Day * groups organizer for Maryland Kos.
Summary: Sreeizzle2012 needs $650 to cover airfare and expenses to attend NN13. He has already been given a registration and hotel room.

June 20th - 23rd • REGISTER HERE • BOOK YOUR HOTEL!
These tables have been organized for our groups to connect during NN13 in the plenary sessions. This is where the opening and closing keynotes take place along with many noon-time-speaking events. Box lunches are sometimes provided and it's great to have a place reserved with familiar faces. If you're attending you're invited to start a table or sit at any of the established ones. Just let me know in the comments or send me a Kosmail. Please note: This is not assigned seating. You may sit at any of the reserved tables at any time. I plan to move around and mingle. There will be over 2500 people there so being able to find each other is nice.

Cheers & Jeers - * New Day * Dinner
TIME: 5:30 PM
LOCATION: The Brit (Britannia Arms)
173 W. Santa Clara St. (walking distance from Conv. Center) • Downtown San Jose
Every year since 2007, Common Sense Mainer has organized a dinner for the readers of Cheers & Jeers who attend Netroots Nation. It has grown every year. Last year we had over 100 Kossacks attend. CSM always chooses a restaurant willing to handle a large crowd WITH SEPARATE CHECKS. (!?!) Yes, I know, hard to believe but it's worked the last several years. This year CSM has negotiated with The Brit for a special menu and separate checks are secured. If you'd like to join us please leave a comment in this diary and you'll be put on the RSVP list below. This year * New Day * and SFKossacks are co-hosting. All regional groups are invited to attend in addition to the loyal C&J following that Bill and Michael have.
ORGANIZER: Send navajo a kosmail to attend or leave a comment.
And the above event is followed by the official opening event featuring Howard Dean:
Wednesday, June 19th
Liquid Courage party to open NN13
Our friends at the Courage Campaign have announced that they’re throwing a party to open Netroots Nation 2013. Gov. Howard Dean will be there!
TIME: 7:30 - 9:30 PM
LOCATION: The Tech Museum
201 South Market St. (walking distance from Conv. Center) • Downtown San Jose
Arrive early on Wednesday to pick up your credentials at the Convention Center which will get you into the Liquid Courage event. You can let them know you're coming on their facebook page.
TheFatLadySings is working with Eric at Netroots Nation to try to assemble a fleet of power scooters and power chairs that can be reserved and rented by those who need them at a discount. We need to assess how many people will make use of this service. Please Kosmail TheFatLadySings with your needs for NN13.
