I guess it could be considered a sin but I think of it more as a manifestation. By longing for something that I want I’m putting out the energy to create space and finances for whatever I’m coveting - I mean longing for - I mean manifesting.
I’m starting to get very interested in wearing earrings. Mundane as it may seem I have one hole in each ear pierced. For me that’s really something though because for about 20 years I had only one hole in one ear. (That is a great way to get free earrings; once your friends lose one of a pair they give the remaining one to you.)
But at some point I thought I might feel more balanced if my ears matched so I pierced the other one. I put a pair of baby hoops in them and left them there for 5 years. Then I was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery. For some reason they make you take your earrings out for surgery. (I really can’t imagine what kind of emergency my little hoops would get in the way of.)
For several months after the surgery my ears were the last thing I thought about so earrings never even crossed my mind. Then I started getting my hair cut shorter and shorter. I don’t know why. I chose alternative treatments for my cancer so I didn’t do anything that made my hair fall out, maybe it was just being around bald women a lot.
Once my hair was short (and at this point it’s about ½” and hot red) it seemed like earrings might take some of the attention away from the wrinkles and that (cringe) neck of mine. And little baby hoops just weren’t going to do.
I started searching for earrings and where else would I look but the Kos Katalogue?
Any earrings that I wear need to meet a few requirements. No gold. They have to not bother my “oh so” sensitive ears. They have to be able to stay in all night. If I take them out I will never remember to put them back in the next day and within 24 hours the holes in my ears grow back over. (That’s actually a good thing, I heal fast.)
They have to be hoops. I wear headphones a lot and post earrings jab me. They can’t be too long because I will be sleeping with them on and I also sleep with 3 pooties and a woozle. If my head moves in the night and the earrings move too much my cats bat at them and I wake up scratched. (Which I suppose takes attention away from wrinkles but not in a good way.)
Thank goodness there are a lot of earrings to choose from in the Kos Katalogue. I’m going to highlight some of the ones that appeal to me and are in my budget; ones that I hope to purchase. Please take a look at the whole jewelry section and point out the ones that appeal to you. (And hopefully some that you plan to purchase!) I’m sure we all like something different in styles and prices.
What we probably all share is a love of supporting local artists and handmade things.
My earring picks:
At Art Ware there is an amazing selection of very reasonably prices earrings. I covet many that are out of my category because they are gold or posts or my cats would tear my face off while I slept. But the colors are so rich and vibrant that I am coveting them anyway. I found these that I think I can get away with:
Sterling silver capped Pyrite - $39
Thai cross-hatched silver beads - $48
I love these at Edries shop $35
Melinda Downey’s earrings could make me change my mind about posts. $40
This shop has the most fascinating pieces. $40
And are these too cool or what? $58 (same shop)
These are listed as earrings here but I'm pretty sure my pooties would say CAT TOYS!!!
I don’t even really like bead earrings but these at Jan4Insight’s shop caught my eye. $7 They’d go really well with my red hair and I like how they sort of don’t perfectly match. Because even with both ears pierced I am far from balanced!
So these are some of the pairs that are making my ears burn. What ones are you coveting? Which ones will you be buying?

Building Community. Creating Jobs. Donating Art to Community Organizations.
Kos Katalogue Blogathon: July 10-July 12, 2013
Daily Kos is the best progressive website for a good reason: it has, by far, the most vibrant, dynamic, and supportive online community. While policy and political issues dominate everyday debates and conversations, it is the participation, dedication, and caring attitudes exhibited by the blog's members that has made this place unique among online communities. In short, you are responsible for its success over the past eleven years since 2002.
When you decide to buy online gifts for friends and family members or for your own personal use, please consider buying an item or two from Kos Katalogue. By supporting the Daily Kos Community small businesses, you encourage job creation. With millions of average Americans struggling in this fragile economy, sensible economic proposals emanating from Washington, DC and the corporate sector are non-existent and, thus far, unable to stimulate sufficient job growth.
Kos Katalogue consists of dozens of online stores, encompassing the talents of hundreds of brilliant, creative people and featuring unique items for sale. It also connects our online community with towns and cities across the United States. For example, with generous financial support from our community members, the Gallery Kos Community Art Project has donated artwork to community organizations around the country. Such initiatives by members of Kos Katalogue facilitate networking in the real world and strengthen community ties.
A Personal Request from Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse, Aji, and JekyllnHyde
Both sisters have been an integral part of Daily Kos for a long time. In years past, the three of us have worked with them on several occasions in many blogathons and other special projects. For as long as we can remember, they have selflessly comforted others in need and helped to foster a strong sense of community. Now, they need our help.
Sara (Sara R) and Ann (winglion) are facing some hefty medical bills, vet bills for their beloved pooties, and a host of other economic issues. If you can help, please go to PayPal.com and make a contribution to rainwoman AT mac DOT com.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
