This friggin' guy:

Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe, recovering from a recent quadruple bypass, is now using the heart surgery in his attacks on Obamacare.

After going in for a routine colonoscopy, doctors found Inhofe’s arteries were so clogged he barely made it onto the operating table, he said in comments airing on journalist Aaron Klein’s WABC radio show tonight.

The 79-year-old suggested that if he had been in a part of the world with “socialized medicine like Obama is trying to impose upon America,” the operation never would have happened. - BuzzFeed, 10/20/13

Here's what Inhofe said:

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, smiles as he leaves the Senate chamber at the Capitol in Washington, Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013. Senate Republicans on stalled the nomination of former GOP senator Chuck Hagel as the nation’s next secretary of defense when a vote to end debate on Hagel fell short of the 60 yeas required to break the Republican filibuster, leaving Hagel’s nomination in limbo as Congress leaves for recess.  (AP Photo/J. "You are talking to someone right now who probably wouldn’t be here if we had socialized medicine in America," he said on host Aaron Klein's radio show, referring to Obamacare.

“A person can find out, here in the United States, that he has this emergency situation where he has got to have immediate heart surgery. And if you are in a country other than the United States, a lot of them, you can’t get it done. In my case, with my age, that would have been about a six-month wait. Because I hadn’t had a heart attack,” he said.

“And so the message there is, you know I say this to all of your American listeners, let’s hold onto what we’ve got here," he said. "You know, you are talking to someone right now who probably wouldn’t be here if we had socialized medicine in America.” - TPM, 10/21/13

Now here's the real kicker:

Mr. Inhofe is apparently unaware that emergency surgery is also available in countries with socialized medicine. We were going to look up survival rates for coronary artery disease in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, but we decided not to bother because this is a man who thinks that snow in the winter proves there’s no such thing as global warming.

Senator Inhofe was apparently not asked about the health outlook for people who never get routine checkups because they have no insurance at all. - Wonkette, 10/21/3

Seriously, what an asshole.  If you'd like to learn more about Inhofe's opponent, Matt Silverstein (D. OK), you can check out his website here:

FYI, pipsorcle has pointed out that Silverstein has raised over $238,000 in less than 4 months:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
