It looks like Putin is going all-in. Live updates on at the Guardian:
Kiev claims it repelled Russian troops in south Ukraine - live updateshttp://www.theguardian.com/...
The defence ministry says soldiers repelled a Russian attempt to infiltrate its territory beyond Crimea.
It looks like this shit is getting real. :(
8:18 AM PT: A Ukrainian news agency has more on one of the incidents:
A local township council in Strilkove, Kherson is claiming Russian troops landed by helicopter.
9:08 AM PT: Luckily, it seems like this was "just" an attempt by the Russian military to expand their space around Crimea somewhat/probe Ukraine's defenses. It seems that a Russian unit was already probing into Kherson just a few days ago:
Putin is playing with fire here. Any of these moves could cause a shooting incident and things could quickly spin out of control. But, who knows, maybe that is what he wants.
9:19 AM PT: It seems some Ukrainians managed to film the helicopters that brought in the Russian troops. They are accompanied by Russia's version of the Apache helicopter gunship.
There are now conflicting reports as to whether the Russian troops left or stayed.
