20+ kids were hurt in a stabbing attack at a Pennsylvania school today; the stabber, apparently a student at the same school, has been arrested.

As of 947am EST on Daily Kos, not one diary on the reclist or recent diaries about it.

There's one about Bitcoins.

One about Rick Scott, Star Trek, etc.

Nothing about the stabbing.

I can only assume that this attack doesn't fit anyone's political narratives and therefore isn't important enough to mention...which can only cause one to question whether or not it's really progressive empathy that is driving us to take on the question of school mass shootings.

I can understand why this incident isn't expedient to discuss.

A. For those who favor very few restrictions on guns near schools and per-weapon ammo limits, they know that there would be several dead kids right now had the student walked in with a semi-auto and an extended magazine.

B. For those who favor heavy restrictions (or more) on guns and semi-automatics, clearly a gun didn't cause this student to go into the school and stab 20 people with a knife before being apprehended, which lends credence to the idea that 'oh, maybe mental health IS an issue and a correlating factor for mass school violence today in the USA.'

Very interesting, DK team. And telling.

8:26 AM PT: This diary is currently hidden, which is perfectly within the rights of the community, though at least two of the raters are not miffed simply with the diary itself. That's fine, it's up to the community per the set up.

However, I wrote this diary because I go to Daily Kos each morning (after reviewing some news), and was very angry to see nothing on this, and I still don't believe for a second that if it had been a shooting, we wouldn't have seen multiple diaries from multiple perspectives trying to spin the occurrence to support their own stance on guns. That's why I wrote it, and for those that are angry that this was the first diary on it: that's my point, too.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
