Daily Kos Radio's Kagro in the Morning show podcasts are now available through iTunes.

Friday grab-bag time! Plus, Cliven Bundy is still crazy!

We've got a sponsored show today, too! Harrys.com, purveyors of fine shaving supplies! How fine? Go to Harrys.com and use the promo code "Kagro" when you order, and SAVE FIVE BUCKS finding out!

Or you could just take my word for it that they're fine products, and go save five bucks on your first order anyway, when you use that "Kagro" promo code.

I'm saying that you should use the "Kagro" promo code.

Do you get me?

Look, we're all mammals here. If you or someone you know needs to scrape hair off their face, or possibly their legs, chest or back, you might as well go to Harrys.com, save money, support the show, and get something decent to shave with that actually costs less than major brand razors, yet look like it came from the local 7-Eleven, if you know what I'm saying. (Hi, Mitt!)

Do it now, use the promo code "Kagro", save $5 on your first order, or I'll talk about it for half an hour.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  David, regarding the cost of blades from (0+ / 0-)

Harry's.com.  I am considering trying Harry's specifically based on their sponsorship of your show.  Unfortunately, I just spent way more on some brand name cartridges that I need to used up first.  Based on past experience that will take a couple of weeks, so I hope the discount code isn't a one day thing.

Regarding your listener who found a vender with cheaper blades, I am reminded of the following quote from John Ruskin, the eighteenth century philosopher, “It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When
you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will
have enough to pay for something better.”

I just wish more businesses and especially our government officials understood this simple rule.

    •  Another Ruskin quote also applies here too (0+ / 0-)

There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey."

    •  I'm not entirely sure how long the code works. (0+ / 0-)

It's almost certainly not a one day thing, though. And the current plans are to advertise with us again in July. Not sure how that plan came about, but that may line up with your timing.

I'll have to ask about that code. They might be willing to honor it for first time buyers no matter what the timing. Lots of companies do things that way, building the discount into their planning.

Anyway, it really does seem like good stuff. And you can't beat getting a $10 price to give it a try. You can't even get just blades at the supermarket for $10.

      •  Very true. The offer is almost too good to pass (0+ / 0-)

up even if i don't use them right away.  Besides it also supports you guys which is definitely something  I appreciate.  I'll probably place an order in the next few days.  Keep up the good work.  I'll be listening.

        •  David, decided to take a shot at the deal from (0+ / 0-)

Harry's.com.  Bought a Winston set for $20.  After taking a look at my current Schick Quattro Handle this morning I thought I'd have to replace it soon anyway so I decided to try the Winston which seemed to be a comparable product.  I also checked the price of the blades I last ordered through Drugstore.com and they are more than $2.75 per blade, so if Harry's provides a comparable shave, ordering from them will be a significant savings.

I'll be sure and let you know how things work out.  If the shave is as good as the reviews and your endorsement indicate I'll probably buy a gift set for my nephew as well who will be starting college in the fall.  I'll also be sure and mention KITM when I give them a customer review, especially if it's a good one.

          •  w00t! (0+ / 0-)

Their stuff really did give me a pretty damned smooth shave. I'm not kidding!

            •  Just got my Winston set from Harry's Friday. (0+ / 0-)

I tried it almost immediately.  I got a very good shave, at least as good as, if not better than the one I got from my national brand.  I really like the shaving creme as well. If my experience continues in this vein, I'll definitely be a long term customer.  Thanks for finding such a great product and sponsor.

BTW, I wrote a review on the Harry's Facebook page and I specifically mentioned that I decided to try Harry's because of their sponsorship of the KITM show.  I hope others will do the same and that Harry's sponsors more shows in the future.
