I've always been reluctant to talk about my rape on this blog...for a lot of reasons. Because it's not easy to talk about or relive and who knows? But there was one thing I never expected.

You see, right after I described what happened to me to a so called enlightened male kossack, he challenged my my perception of the mistreatment of women as a serious issue. Now, I don't know about anybody else, but I found this hideously offensive.

Another kossak stepped in and called him what amounted to a euphemism for a phony penis. At this point the mr enlightened thought it would be funny to let us all know that his penis was indeed real. Needless to say, I was not amused and told him so. As you can imagine, what followed was not pretty.

Even this morning this kossack was back at it with a nonpology, making all manner of excuses, mocking the fact that he was hr'd for his dick joke in a thread about rape and just basically insisting that it was, still- all about him.

But, that's not the worst part. I was angry, yes. Upset? Sure, but I've been there before. Some people are just thick, narcissistic, whatever. It's what happened next that was like a horrible kick in the gut. Literally made me nauseated. I looked up at the offensive comments and they were getting uprated. I couldn't believe it. Want to know what was worse? It had to be factional. If you look at these comments in context, how do explain these uprates?

were you raped? (16+ / 0-)
do you want to compare notes or do you just want to be a sanctimonious ass?

you think little girls aren't molested. they are. I was. and when i was a teenager i was taken to a party by a "friend' who set me up to be drugged, dragged down a hall and raped. great way to lose your virginity. I know that doesn't compare to the suffering you feel, tho..mr empathy.  now go away. you've already made it abundantly clear that only certain people deserve it.

that this maltreatment of women is a serious issue. Good to know (if that is, in fact, the case).

Do I have a side or a faction here? Yeah, I don't think I've ever made any secret of that. But only one woman was able to lay aside the faction thing today and read that thread and see me as a person, kj in missouri, who went back to read through and saw what was actually going on in that thread.

Do we need a safe space from men? What about when women hurt other women? Because I didn't actually feel sick or start to shake until those uprates from the champions for the female gender started coming in. Now, did they just drop in and uprate out of loyalty to a friend without bothering to read what they uprated? Or do they think I somehow deserve that? Was I asking for it? Please, explain it to me, because after the last few days here, I would really like to understand.

Mon Jun 02, 2014 at 6:31 PM PT: While I realize that this should now be a dead diary it has come to my attention that the comment section is filling up with party-goers attending the grave dancing festivities over the recent bannings. Well, partiers, it's time to get the fuck out of Dodge, go hold your danse macabre  elsewhere, you have no fucking respect at all.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
