Many of you have heard of Jon Meis, the hero of the Seattle Pacific University shooting yesterday.  For those of you who haven't been following the story, Mr. Meis, who was the building monitor used pepper spray to subdue the shooter and then he and other tackled and restrained him while waiting for the police to arrive.

Mr. Meis is getting married in two weeks. Local Seattle people found out and bought out their online gift registry, so someone has started a GoFundMe account to help pay for their honeymoon.

Edited:  Thanks to Toyotabob7 who has heard of Jessamyn McIntrye, who is a producer at a local news station and a sideline reporter at WSU Cougar games - so this site is legit.

For those of you so inclined, let's give this young man and his wife-to-be the honeymoon they never even dreamed of having!

Also, as of right now (7:45 PDT), they have raised almost $9,500 for their honeymoon.  Maybe if this catches on enough nationally, they'll be able to buy themselves a house!

On a related noted, one of the young men injured in the shooting was able to go home today.

Peace to all.

8:52 AM PT: Update:  We have now raised almost $10,800!  Let's keep the $$$ rolling in!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
