Circle the chairs and lets form a snake line. Today's ongoing topic is about Rev. William Barber's call to action at NN14. And today's suggested topics are: Share your political activism and what are you doing to elect more and better Democrats?
Activism consists of efforts to promote, impede, or direct social, political, economic, or environmental change, or stasis. Various forms of activism range from writing letters to newspapers or politicians, political campaigning, economic activism such as boycotts or preferentially patronizing businesses, rallies, street marches, strikes, sit-ins, and hunger strikes. Research is beginning to explore how activist groups in the United States and Canada are using social media to facilitate civic engagement and collective action. - Wikipedia
Last Monday I attended a meeting with Deputy Staff Director Sean Elsbernd, who is a staff member of Senator Feinstein’s office, to present a letter of concern to Senator Feinstein, see below, about Net Neturaly. In attendance were Daily Kos members and SF SFKossacks members.

I was given an opportunity to tell why this issue is of concern to my Vallejo community. I'm part of an organization that is meeting to consider implementing Municipal Broadband in Vallejo. At the meeting I explaining how the major national internet providers are blocking grant funding that would help finance Municipal Broadband in Vallejo.

To Sen. Diane Feinstein:
On behalf of the nearly 55,000 Californians who have used the Daily Kos platform to take action on net neutrality and raise their concerns at the FCC, White House, and in Congress, we urge you to support real net neutrality.
As you know, the impacts of net neutrality would surely affect the economy of California, while posing a very real threat to democracy and independent, grassroots sites—like Daily Kos.
While we work to encourage the FCC to base the net neutrality rules on Title II authority of the Telecommunications Act to treat the internet like a public utility, the Senate, including Sen. Feinstein should also be engaged in the fight to protect an open internet.
House Republicans have already stated that they plan to attack any net neutrality rules the FCC passes. Whether they are based on 706 authority or Title II authority, there will be a political fight and Title II is the stronger legal authority.
Senate Majority Leader Reid has already stated that he and the Senate will defend net neutrality from Republican attacks.
Additionally, the individual commission members of the FCC are influenced by the politics of the issue and especially influenced by statements of support from elected officials.
For this reason, we would ask that Sen. Feinstein write and file a letter at the FCC urging them to protect real net neutrality which would use the FCCs Title II authority to classify the internet as a public utility and support these principles in the Senate.
Sincerely,
The Daily Kos Community and Staff
