I'm far too tired and struggling for coherency. The last thing I felt like doing was another diary. But some things are far more important than being tired.
This would be one of them.
Organizing a big march is like throwing a rock in a pond: the splash is exciting, but the real beauty is in the ripples. And the ripples of the People’s Climate Mobilization are already spreading. A people’s summit outlining the path to a just transition away from fossil fuels starts tomorrow, along with actions targeting corporate polluters in New York.
With your help those ripples can spread further, and strengthen -- and on Tuesday, hopefully help rock world leaders into action, where they have only offered words before.
That quote is part of an email from
350.org, one of the founding organizations that put together this past weekend's history making
People's Climate Marches around the world. They are committed to
Building a Global Climate Movement. Last weekend's game changing
People's Climate Marches are just the beginning.
They need our help to keep the weekend's momentum going and time is short.
350.0rg is asking people to sign a "letter" that will be delivered to world leaders meeting tomorrow at the UN Climate Summit. We can help make 350's request go viral. Signatures are coming in every minute and I think huge numbers of signatories can be reached. We need to do everything possible to drive home to world leaders that we are not waiting for action anymore.
Would you help drive that message home by signing and sharing? Here's the link to the page on 350.org's web site where you can sign and then share, if you would be so kind.
We're ready for action. Not Words.
On September 21st, more people gathered worldwide for climate action than ever before. On September 23rd, more heads of state than ever before will gather in New York to talk about climate action.
Send a message to world leaders that the world is taking bold action, and that it's time for them to join us. On Tuesday we'll deliver it to top leaders inside the UN to deliver our signal to the meeting.

Needless to say, getting out the vote for this November's election could not be more important. We can't get Congress to act on Climate Change as long as Republicans still control the House and have too much influence in the Senate. If nothing else, lets pull out all the stops to put the fear of god into them.
Our local elections are equally important. We can fight back against Climate Change by moving our towns into a Green, Sustainable, direction.
It is not just what happens in Washington, DC that matters. What happens on the local and state level is equally important.
And no, I'm too tired to deal with "we can't," or "nothing we do matters," or "both parties are the same," or any other negative, defeatist, thinking. I get it. Really I do. But we don't have time for it anymore.
We make change happen by changing the odds against us.
It is that simple.
Fighting back against Climate Change, Fighting for Social Justice, and yes - the two are intimately linked - depends upon building a movement. A crucial part of that movement is GOTV.
Add in the composition of the Supreme Court and it is even more vital that we get out the vote for this election.
The future depends upon it. His future. My grand boys' futures. All our children's futures.
Every thing you do, no matter how small you think it may be, matters greatly - including signing your name to a petition and sharing the same.
Everything - including reminding your neighbors and folks in the grocery store check out line to vote.
Everything.
Together we can and will move mountains. Lets keep those "ripples" going, shall we?
For her. For all of us on this beautiful blue world.
The world is calling.
And we are answering.
Lets do this!
Sign here and then please share - We're ready for action. Not Words.
11:50 AM PT: My apologies but I have to run. The youngest grand boy is sick and I'm heading to my daughter's house to be with him.
Thank you so much for reading, signing 350.0rg's petition and for sharing the same. The world is a better place because of all of you.
