A diary out of sheer curiosity....
After I read Denise' diary this morning, I went and poked around on Quantcast, and came up with something really, really strange.
This is a graph of Politico's stats for the last couple of months.
My first thought was that something is screwed up with the stats, but the lower level of hits has been going on for over a month at this point.
My second thought was that the hits were being diverted to another site. But links to politico.com articles go to other politico.com articles.
So I went googling. At the beginning of September, one of the founders went over to the Washington Post, http://www.latimes.com/... the executive editor resigned, http://www.washingtonpost.com/... , and politico announced plans to partner with a european firm http://online.wsj.com/...
And none of this makes any sense of the drop-off in site traffic.
Does anyone have any solid information on why politico's hits are now running below Crooks and Liars?
