Paris: A man wearing a bullet-proof vest fired on police officers with an automatic rifle at Montrougue near Paris on Thursday, seriously injuring one of them, a police source said.
The gunmen then escaped in the metro.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve is rushing to the scene of the incident near Porte de Chatillon, south of Paris, which happened just a day after two gunmen killed 12 people in an apparent Islamist attack on satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo.
Paris police and a French security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing, said it was too early to draw any connection between the shootings.
