An article at Huffington Post notes that President Obama was interviewed prior to the Super Bowl; in that interview, he urged parents to get their children vaccinated.
More below the sinister orange Big Pharma Kenyan atheistic Muslim barbed wire surrounding FEMA death camps.
As we know, there are those who refuse to obtain vaccines on religious or philosophical grounds; it is unlikely that the President's exhortation will reach them. Those holding opinions that oppose the overwhelming body of scientific research over two centuries span all political opinions.
The vast majority of conservatives are not opposed to vaccinations any more than the vast majority of liberals, moderates, or libertarians.
However, there is a large contingent of conservatively-minded people who will oppose anything the President proposes, simply because he is President Obama.
From the article linked above:
"I understand that there are families that, in some cases, are concerned about the effect of vaccinations," Obama said in a pre-Super Bowl interview with NBC's Savannah Guthrie on Sunday. "The science is, you know, pretty indisputable. We’ve looked at this again and again. There is every reason to get vaccinated, but there aren’t reasons to not."
"You should get your kids vaccinated," he added. "It's good for them and the challenge you have is if you have a certain group of kids who don't get vaccinated, and if it grows large enough that a percentage of the population doesn't get vaccinated and they're the folks who can't get vaccinated, small infants, for example ... they suddenly become much more vulnerable."
It is apparent what is going on here: he is trying to get those who oppose him because of who he is to forego vaccinations by asking parents to get their children vaccinated.
That would mean that any conservative vaccinating his or her children could be seen as agreeing with the President atheistic-Muslim Communist usurper of the White House who cheated by winning two elections (never mind the inherent disconnect of "atheist," "Muslim," and "Communist," all of which he is accused of being simultaneously).
The litmus test for a True Conservative™ these days seems to be to oppose everything the President does from golf to wearing a tan suit, so if he supports vaccination, they are compelled to oppose it on ideological grounds.
Now if we could get President Obama to support the Keystone XL Pipeline, that ought to be sufficient to get it killed.
8:22 AM MT: As Dartagnan notes in his diary here, President Obama bagged his first conservative only a few hours later, Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ).
They have to oppose President Obama. They just have to.
