I connected with no other band as closely as I did Yes. They were the band of youth and maturation. I watched and listened as they changed and grew over decades. I loved Jon Anderson's cosmic flakiness and his words and voices were a large part of my spiritual growth, but Chris, he was the through line of Yes. He was the man who was Yes from the beginning to the now. His bass rumbled every track of every album (do they still call them albums?) and his solo record Fish out of Water reveals an earthy and solid musical foundation.
Chris Squire peacefully passed away last night in Phoenix Arizona succumbing to Acute Erythroid Leukemia .
I can't begin to tell you how sad I feel right now.
I'm sorry this isn't a proper diary. I just wanted to post it somewhere.
I will miss him. Even though we never actually met, I feel he had a part in making me who I am today.
Rest in Peace.
3:20 PM PT: Oh my lord have heaven! This diary is RECOMMENDED?
You've made this day so much easier or me! Thank you! It is so nice to see the love for a bandmember in a band that doesn't get much love.
Schindleria praematurus everyone!
