Powerful.
Sometimes pictures do speak louder than words. The
New York magazine has an extraordinarily powerful new cover featuring 35 of Bill Cosby's allegedly assault victims, complete with the dates of the alleged assaults and one empty chair representing additional women who've made accusations but have chosen not to come forward publicly.
The New York magazine tells their story in detail:
The accompanying feature is overwhelming—in addition to an essay by Noreen Malone, the magazine has published online individual stories that focus on each victim’s allegations against Cosby, and a portfolio of portraits and group photographs by Amanda Demme.
“More has changed in the past few years for women who allege rape than in all the decades since the women’s movement began,” Malone writes at the outset of her essay. The testimony that follows—in both text and video form—illustrates the scale and diversity of the abuse accusers say Cosby inflicted upon them over the span of decades.
As of Monday morning, the response to the cover page and the article has been so overwhelming that the internet traffic crushed the website and it has been down for hours. I'll update when the site returns online, but if you want to check back,
here is a link to the article.
